Cateran Trail Recce 11.03.07

Wind, Rain, Low Cloud, Mud and Wild Dogs didn’t deter the first Carnegie foray this year on to the Cateran Trail last Sunday. Andrew and Helena Sim, Steven King, Paul Davies and Gail and George Murdoch sampled the delights of running leg 1 and 2 from The Spittal of Glenshee to Bridge of Caley.

Previous experience within the group of having run these legs in past races made for interesting chat comparing the “trials” of each leg being run in reverse for the first time. Ultrabillies Gail and Steven made short work of the 17 mile route whilst Helena (despite Gentleman Paul’s help) made hard work of the numerous river crossings!

All agreed that the initial climb on to the hill from The Spittal of Glenshee will make for interesting race tactics. Keep an eye out for future recce’s that will be posted here on the Hillbillies site.

Here are some photos from Sunday’s run:

Neil, just to say that due to the easter holidays that Maryann and I doing the Trail this weekend in preparation for the race. We shall be starting off at Blairgowrie on Saturday morning heading up to the Bridge of Cally then running back. The next two shall be continuing on the same vain until we complete it, so the long and short of the story is that in the three days we should hope to have covered the route fully, twice. Sadly the both of us are looking forward to it! Catch up with the crew soon.
Tommy & Maryann
