Thursday Night run

Report by Paul D.

We had a good turnout last night with a total of 10 Hillbillies braving the strong wind. We tried a slightly different route from last week in order to stay out of the wind and to practice running through deep heather. The final decent was taken at quite some pace by some (someone must have got a sniff of the pub below), everyone seemed to have a great night out on the hills and are looking forward to another Hillbillies outing next week.

We also agreed that both next week (26/04/07) and the week after (3/04/07) we will run from the Church at Scotlandwell, and the plan for the 2 weeks after that is to run up on the Ochill’s somewhere (venue and route to be confirmed by Tracy Stamp).

The sun shone on the 7 Hillbillies who headed up to Scotlandwell last night. The views were spectacular, the running was good fun and the hills were steep. All in all a good way to spend a Thursday evening ! Thanks to all that came along.

Next week Paul H will lead the Hillbillies on another tour of the Lomonds so please be ready to run at Scotlandwell Church at 7pm. All welcome, don’t forget your sence of adventure, don’t worry about a sence of direction !

Hi all

If anyone has a route or hill that they would like to try next week, then let me know.

We plan to be out for 1.5hrs including rest stops.

If you have not tried the hills then come and see what you are missing.

You know you want to.

Hi all,
Having done the recce of the Cateran Trail yesterday I wondered if it was better to do an “easier” run the Thursday before the Cateran Trail Race / Relay. (In order that the teams can do well and I have a fighting chance of getting to the finish). I therefore propose the following slight change to the Hillbillies Thursday evening running schedule:

DATE - START OF RUN - GRID REF - RUN LEADER
03/05/07 - Scotlandwell Church - NO183019 - Paul H
10/05/07 - Blairadam main carpark - TBD - Paul Davies
17/05/07 - Ochils Start venue - TBD - Tracy Stamp
24/05/07 - Ochils Start venue - TBD - Tracy Stamp
31/05/07 - TBD - TBD - TBD

Please let me know what you think of the revised schedule and please let me know if you would like to volunter to lead a run.

yours,
Paul

All

Just to let you know, On a Thursday night we plan our run based on who turns up on the night.
Our policy is to ensure that everyone gets a good hill run, good company and no-one is ever left on there own. We are usually out for 60-90mins (This includes stops/rests).
Please do not feel intimidated or put of if you have never ran in the hills before, we will make sure you have an enjoyable experience and you will be reworded for your efforts with great views of Scotland.

See you all on Thursday night.

If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Hill running captain or any other committee member

Hi everyone - planning on joining you tonight for my first venture into the scary world of hill running. As I’m a newbie to this madness what is the script for the run tonight - I see you are meeting in Tillicoultry Glen - where exactly are you meeting - don’t want to turn up and miss you all.

What is best running gear to bring along - it looks nice enough outside but you never know with Scotland !!

Looking forward to it.
