Some Hillbillies are planning a run on the Cateran Trail this Sunday. The proposal is to cover Legs 2 and 3 with a total mileage not exceeding 17 miles and around 3 hours running time.
Leave a comment here if you would like to join us and meet at Dunfermline Academy of Sport on Sunday morning to arrange car sharing - planned departure time 9am.
Wind, Rain, Low Cloud, Mud and Wild Dogs didn’t deter the first Carnegie foray this year on to the Cateran Trail last Sunday. Andrew and Helena Sim, Steven King, Paul Davies and Gail and George Murdoch sampled the delights of running leg 1 and 2 from The Spittal of Glenshee to Bridge of Caley.
Previous experience within the group of having run these legs in past races made for interesting chat comparing the “trials” of each leg being run in reverse for the first time. Ultrabillies Gail and Steven made short work of the 17 mile route whilst Helena (despite Gentleman Paul’s help) made hard work of the numerous river crossings!
All agreed that the initial climb on to the hill from The Spittal of Glenshee will make for interesting race tactics. Keep an eye out for future recce’s that will be posted here on the Hillbillies site.
Here are some photos from Sunday’s run:

The date is out for the next Cateran trail relay race. 12 may 2007. Last year we had a great turn out with 51 Harriers taking part.
This year Bill Duff is looking to get accomodation and a barbeque up at the Spittle of Glenshee organised for the evening after the race so we can make a club trip of it. As accomodation is at a premium at that time of year we need to book soon. If you are interested in staying over and having a going away party, as Bill will be leaving soon after, please get in touch with Bill to book your place. If we don’t book soon there might not be places left.
We will be looking to get teams and individual runners soon. Look out for information on the notice board and weekly newsletter.
