Sunday 27th June:

The challenging 28 mile Lairig Ghru Race from Braemar to Aviemore took place on Sunday. The weather ranged from hot, humid conditions at start and finish to rain, just about sub-zero and snowfields to cross at the tops. Steven King was the leading Carnegie runner placing 31st in 4.24.25. Andy Sim ran his fastest ever Lairig Ghru race reaching to finish at Aviemore Police Station in 4.41.40 (48th). Well done to Phil Smithard who won the M60 award in 4.45.07. Helena Sim and Lynne Kuz completed the distance in 5.47.48.

The Lairig Ghru Race lived up to its usual reputation of uncertain weather ranging from baking heat to wind and rain during the course of the event. No hail stones were reported which can only be a plus.

The plan for the Thursday night off road run on 08/05/08 is to set off from Blairadam Forest Main Car Park at 7pm for an easy 6ish mile hilly run through the forest. A nice easy run, not too far for those who will be doing the Cateran Trail 23 mile race or the Ben Lomond Race on the weekend. Hope to see you there.
