After Durisdeer Andrew Sim and Neil Campbell decided to go for a run in the Ochils. Where could they go? How about from Castle Campbell to Andrew Gannel and back. Hey a bit tedious but someone has to make up these lines. It was a good clear evening and we had a good run. You can see the profile of the route below.

The Bishop Hill Race on Sunday 2nd March is race 2 of the 2008 Carnegie Harriers Hill Running Grand Prix. This is a short (3.5km) local race with just 300m of climb and so is an ideal race for experienced or novice hill runners.
In order to encourage as many Carnegie Harriers to enter the race as possible we are going to run a Bishop Hill Race recce run and training session at 9am on Sunday 24th February. The plan is to meet at Portmoak Village Hall (Scotlandwell) then spend about 1 1/2 hours practicing the ascents and descents on the Bishop Hill race course and hopefully getting some top tips from the more experienced hill runners on how to descend rapidly.
Details of the race can be found HERE
I hope to see you on either the training session at 9am on 24th February or at the start line of the race at 2pm on 2nd March.

Here are some photos from todays recce hill run.
There was a great turn out of 20 harriers who met at Falkland village hall on a Sunday morning for the first Devil’s Burden recce run. 6 harriers followed the leg 1 route and then returned on a shorter more direct path back to the village hall in Falkland. A further 9 after completing leg 1 made there way up the fire road along the first section of leg 2 and round past Harpenden reservoir and back down to Falkland. The remaining 5 continues on past leg 2 and took in the first part of leg 3 before a short road section then on to leg 4 heading back to Falkland managing to cover 20mile. We were met on route by Sandy and Ritchie who were out doing a large loop taking in the whole course.

On the 8th Dec. Fiona, Pauline, Gail and maybe a couple others are going to run up Ben Lomond and if anyone else who isn’t planning to run the cross country that day and would like to bag a munro they’d be more than welcome to join us.
We plan to leave the Academy at 9.15am, and be ready to run from Rowardennan by 11.30am. Can’t remember how long it’ll take to run but it’s just over 11km. We’ll go up the ptarmigan route and back the tourist path. Probably won’t get back until late afternoon.
If you fancy this contact Fiona or myself by email or just turn up at the times stated ready to run. You can also post a comment below. (just click comments)

Thursday 29th November – Festive Forest Run Night Time Recce.
Fancy a bit of off road running ? Fancy learning the Festive Forest Run route ? Fancy an adventure in the woods at night ? Then why not meet at 7pm on Thursday 29th November at the Lochornie car park at Blairadam Forest. Take along a torch and club member Paul Davies will be take you around the course at a pace suitable for everyone.
The easiest way to get to the start is by exiting the M90 at junction 4 (Kelty), drive west along the B914 for about one mile and turn right at the junction signposted Cleish. Follow this single track road for approximately one mile and the Lochornie entrance is on your right hand side.
