Andy Symonds going well at the GORE-TEX® Transalpine-Run

Carnegie Hillbilly Andy Symonds along with his Salomon Trail Team running partner Tom Owens (Shettleston Harriers) have now completed 5 of the 8 stages of the 2010 GORE-TEX® Transalpine-Run.

The 305km race which involves over 13,500m of climbing began last Saturday from Rupholding in Germany. The event has attracted over 200 paired teams from across the World with the runners completing eight incredibly challenging stages across the Alps from Germany, through Austria and finishing in Italy.

Andy Symonds and Tom Owens won the event in 2009 and having won all 5 opening stages in 2010 they are currently well on schedule to retain their title. Results and reports from the first five stages can be found on the GORE-TEX® Transalpine-Run website HERE
